It's a Boy!!!!

If you can't tell we are so excited we are for sure having a boy (Parker especially to have his fishing buddy!) We are officially due November 12th!

Portage Glacier and Salmon Fishing!

On Saturday we did some more sightseeing. We went to portage and went on a cruise to a glacier. This was my first glacier up close so it was pretty cool.

And then we went Salmon fishing. Oh dear that was an experience for me in the rain. We didn't catch anything, but we had fun!

Celebrating our first date!!!

It has been just about a year since our first date to the Peaks Ice Arena in Provo, so to celebrate we went to an ice rink here. Crazy that just a year ago we went on our first date. Who knew a year after meeting this kid I would be married, living in Alaska, pregnant! Life is nuts! This rink is actually in the middle of a mall so that was kindof cool. It is the only one open during the summer, but in the winter there are TONS! Yay.

Other happenings in Alaska

So here is a little bit more about Alaska and what we are loving about living here. Just so everyone knows we will LOVE visitors and anyone is welcome to visit and stay with us!!

The weather is AMAZING!! I could handle this summer weather all year long! It is never hot and never cold. It rains once in a while, but most of the time it just feels good!

It is very bright right now! It is kindof crazy going to bed at midnight having it be bright as day and waking up in the middle of the night at 3:30 and having it be bright as day still, but we like it. The 21st was the longest day of the year so from now on there will be a little less light each night until the dark winter gets here.

I lived through my first earthquake yesterday:) It was a 5.4, but it wasn't that bad. I was just sitting at the computer and felt the entire building shake for about a minute and that was that. Kind of fun to experience one, I guess Alaska has alot.

Parkers work is going great. He still loves what he does. Right now he and the other 3 guys that came with him from OK are just memorizing the airway maps of Alaska. Quite intense maps so I guess it takes a month or so to get them all down. For about 1 month he will be working 7 to 3:30 then after that starts the shift work so everyday is a bit different.

We got our bikes up and running this week and went bike riding in the park right behind our apartments. At first when they said there was a park behind our house I thought a nice grassy park with some playgrounds, but in Alaska I guess parks mean something different. It means big forest area filled with wildlife. It has alot of beuatiful bike trails in it and even a golf course tucked in all the trees. We were riding along the trail on Saturday and Parker stopped quickly because right by the trail was a mamma moose and her calf, which I guess means don't pass by because that is when moose get mad is when you go near her and her kids. So we turned around, but of course we got a picture which is below, although it isn't a very close shot. I don't think I will be biking in this park alone in case I run into anything else.

We went for our first Alaskan fishing trip last weekend with Parkers work buddies. In the picture next to me is Chris and Miranda and then Neil. We are soooo lucky to have some friends up here. There are two couples and Neil who came up here too from OK at the same time as us so it is awesome to have them so we arn't alone in this fun adventure. We went to Lake Eklutna, but unfortunately didn't catch anything, it will take us a while to find the good fishing spots. Hopefully we will make friends with seasoned Alaskans and they can take us to the good places. I enjoyed the smores and hotdogs even though we wern't successful in fishing:)

Here we are at the ocean! So beautiful! Not quite the California beaches I was used to, instead of a swimsuit I have to wear tennis shoes or boots for the mud and a jacket for the cold. Behind us is the sleeping lady mountain, but you can't see it so in the next two pictures we got a bit better pics of it.

And here is fathers day. Isn't he going to be a cute dad?!! Our kids are sure lucky!

My Birthday:)

Yay, I got to celebrate my 24th Birthday in Alaska and it was great! Thanks to everyone for the calls, cards, packages, notes, and cute kid pictures. I am so spoiled to have such great friends and family!! Thank you for always remembering me!!

I was spoiled as always! I asked for a sewing machine and I got it! My favorite surprise though was a webcam!!! We got to call and talk to my family on my Birthday on the internet and see them while we were talking to them!! I am going to love being able to see and talk to my nieces and nephews often. Everyone at my parents house even sang happy birthday to me while I blew out my candles:) So FUN!!
Parker made me my favorite icecream cake. I don't think we let it freeze enough before I wanted to eat it because it looks a bit melty in the picture. I was just too excited.

Parkers mom sent me this cute birthday outfit. I think my belly will grow in to the shirt soon:)

For my birthday we went shopping downtown because there were alot of parades and markets for the summer solstice celebration. It was quite fun, although a bit of a culture shock when I realized one of the parades we were passing by was a gay parade, gross! This is a picture of a very large grizzly bear and polar bear at the hilton downtown.

ALASKA!!!

We made it to Alaska and so far I am loving it!! We started our travels on Sunday afternoon the 7th and arrived on Wednesday afternoon the 10th. We feel super blessed that we didn't have any problems on our journey. We just slept on our airmattress in the back of our car each night so it made for a quick journey although we were quite gross smelling by Wednesday without showering:) The drive was absolutely beautiful through Canada and Alaska. There were just trees and more trees everywhere and we saw alot of wildlife along the roadside since we were traveling early in the morning and late at night. That was exciting for me because all I have ever seen of animals has been at Zoos. The animal pics aren't too good because we took them while driving so there are alot of front end and back ends of the animals:)

Since arriving we have done alot of sightseeing and it sure is an amazing place! We are going fishing this weekend (well that is if I can pass the Alaska drivers licence test:)) so I will post more pictures of our Alaska adventures soon!!

Parker thought he should note what I did the majority of the drive in a picture. I am not sure how he managed to photograph this while he was driving? I think my baby is going to be a good car rider because the whole trip I felt great and slept great, then the moment we get to Alaska I am sick throwing up again. I guess me and cars get along.

This is the head of my first wild bear I have ever seen! We saw stack of black bears. We saw one grizzly bear but he ran across the road too fast for a pic. He was HUGE!


And this is a pic of my first moose. After seeing this moose I have seen many and realized they are not that rare around here.

Parker made us a yummy sunday dinner. We had to take a picture of our makeshift chairs and table. We are working on getting one soon.
I went to open our screen door yesterday and I look across the parking lot and there is a moose just sitting on our neigbors porch eating the berries. How random is that? I didn't realize when Parker said we will be living with Bears and Moose that they would really be in the middle of an apartment complex in a big city. I can handle moose I guess since there arn't any snakes and spiders!
