My fabulous sister offered to watch the kiddos while my parents and I went to the lunch before I left that afternoon. While we were ordering our food we got a call from my sister that Breitling had smashed his thumb in the sliding door and needed stitches. We hurried back and got him to the hospital. It was quite the doosey! He had fractured his thumb, ripped off his entire thumb nail, and ripped back the top of his thumb to where I could see his little broken bone. They sewed him up and bandaged him up and we amazingly made it to the airport in time. He was amazing! The only part he really cried through was when they numbed his thumb. The craziest thing was that while they were stitching him up he fell asleep! Yes, all the way snoring asleep! I guess the whole experience wiped him out! He seems to be healing fine and surprisingly the pain hasn't been too bad. The first day he let out cries of "mommy it hurts!" and now when I ask he says "it doesn't hurt too bad." Definitely not the way we wanted to spend our last day, but we were blessed that he reacted so well, and that not only we made it to the airport in time, but that he did well on the airplane. Let's be honest with two very active boys we were bound to go to the ER eventually!
He picked a bright red bandage, but we were so preocupied that I never got a picture of it.
A couple days later we took off the bandage and put on this splint.
Three days later we were told to take off his fake nail they gave him. If you can't handle gross don't look at the next picture. And here is his gross thumb!
